Father’s Day Thoughts
Dear Friends,
Dads. It’s complicated. Even though my own father was present for me, my kids did not have the dad experience I had imagined due to our divorce. However, my boys are excited about becoming fathers. I wonder if they want to be who they needed when they were younger?
Despite the complexity, my respect for the men in my life and the men in my children’s lives has never been greater. In addition to my own father and brother, I have discovered other fathers and brothers on my journey. The common denominator is that they Care – show concern for our wellbeing. Sometimes they do this with a phone call or a visit. Other times they do this with a word of encouragement or admonition. At all times, I know they want only the best for us. I am a better mother, a stronger woman, because of them.
This Father’s Day, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the men present in your big world. Give thanks for the ways they have shown up and shared their wisdom. Then pass it on.
Kindly,
Tamara
